Transcription is an administrative formality by which a civil status certificate (birth certificate, marriage certificate, death certificate) drawn up by a foreign authority for the benefit of a Senegalese national, is reproduced in full on the registers kept in Senegalese diplomatic or consular posts.
The following formalities are necessary for the transcription of the marriage certificate:
– A request for transcription of the marriage certificate addressed to the Ambassador, and to which is attached:
– The Original as well as a copy of the full document to be transcribed;
– A copy of the National ID or passport of the person concerned;
– Stamp duties are no longer levied for civil status documents
The following formalities are required for the transcription of the birth certificate:
– A request for transcription addressed to the Ambassador, of the birth certificate and to which is attached:
– The original as well as a copy of the act to be transcribed;
– A copy of the National ID or Passport of the father and/or mother;
– Stamp duties are no longer levied for civil status documents
The following formalities are required for the transcription of the death certificate:
– A request for transcription addressed to the Ambassador, of the death certificate and to which is attached:
– The original as well as a copy of the act to be transcribed;
– A copy of the National ID or Passport of the deceased;
– A copy of the declarant’s passport;
– Stamp duties are no longer levied for civil status documents
The processing and delivery time for each of these documents is seven (07) working days. It should be noted, however, that this deadline may vary depending on the specificity and/or the urgency of the case and is strictly subject to the assessment of the Administration.
It should also be noted that a pre-stamped envelope bearing the applicant’s address is required if his request is sent to the embassy by post.
